Gaviola is the name given by the Spanish who discovered Gabriola. They referred to Gabriola as ‘Punta de Gaviola‘ referring to the southeastern end of the island. It was later changed to Gabriola. As this spice has a Spanish/Mediterranean flavour to it, we named it accordingly.
It is perfect for seasoning grilled meats and fish, flavouring dressings, as a dry rub for chicken, pork and lamb, and as a delicious seasoning on roasted potatoes.
